From Wednesday January 26th ns4.webfaction.com will point
to 184.108.40.206 (instead of 220.127.116.11 currently).
If you own any domains and use our DNS servers then you may have given the previous IP address to your domain registrar. If that is the case then we recommend that you update the IP address in your registrar’s control panel as soon as possible (you don’t have to wait until Wednesday). Since we are changing the IP address of just one of our 4 DNS server there is no danger of your website or emails being inaccessible while you make the change.
Some registrars only ask for the DNS servers names not their IP addresses. IF that’s the case with your registrar then you don’t need to do anything.
We will be investigating the cause of a visual alarm on Web171, Wednesday Jan 19 at 09:00 UTC.
Depending on the severity we might have to take the server down and if so it will be down between a few minutes and a few hours. We will update this ticket as soon as we have more information tomorrow.
[09:35 AM UTC] The maintenance is complete and the server is back online.
Web93 will be taken down on Wednesday Jan 05 at 10:00AM UTC for a hard disk replacement. Expected downtime should be less than one hour. We will update this post as the maintenance progresses.
[10:35 AM UTC] The disk replacement is done. The server is up and running.
