[Done] Migration of Web224 to faster hardware on December 19th, IP address change

Posted in Service change by

Due to performance issues on Web224 we are going to migrate it to faster hardware on December 19th between 10am and 12pm UTC.

The server’s main IP will change from 62.212.65.162 to 37.58.75.244

If you’re using WebFaction’s DNS servers for all your domains then you don’t need to do anything.

If you’re using non-WebFaction DNS servers for some of your domains then you will have to update their A records yourself. We will leave a proxy running on the old server for 5 days to redirect all HTTP and HTTPS traffic to the new server.

We’ll update this post as the work progresses.

Update Dec 19th, 10am UTC: The migration is starting now.

Update Dec 19th, 12:15pm UTC: The migration is taking a bit longer than expected. We’re still working on migrating the last changes (from the last 24h) that were made on the server.

Update Dec 19th, 12:48pm UTC: The migration is now over. If you experience any issues with your sites open a ticket and we’ll look into it asap. We have setup a proxy on the old server to redirect all HTTP and HTTPS traffic to the new server. The proxy will stay for 15 days.

Network issues on web331

Posted in Downtime by

Web331 is experiencing heavy incoming traffic at this moment, which greatly affects its network connectivity. Packet loss and other network problems are to be expected.

We are working with our datacenter on resolving the problem and we will update this post as soon as we have more information on the subject.

2013-12-05 17:36 UTC: DDoS protection has been enabled on the machine and is mitigating the attack.

2013-12-10 09:02 UTC: The DDoS attack is still going on. It is sporadic in nature and tends to disappear at times. Customers might experience intermittent connectivity issues.

2013-12-12 13:03 UTC: The DDOS attack is still present, though it seems a bit weakened. However, temporary network problems are to be expected. Please note that the issue is still open and must be considered so until this blog post states otherwise.
