Due to a DDOS attack against Web218 we are doing an emergency migration of the server to a datacenter with much better DDOS protection.
The server’s main IP will change from 220.127.116.11 to 18.104.22.168.
If you’re using WebFaction’s DNS servers for all your domains then you don’t need to do anything.
If you’re using non-WebFaction DNS servers for some of your domains then you will have to update their A records yourself. We will leave a proxy running on the old server for 5 days to redirect all HTTP and HTTPS traffic to the new server.
We’ll update this post as the work progresses.
Update 11.10pm UTC: At this point all mysql and postgresql databases have been migrated to the new server. MySql, PostgreSQL, Nginx and Apache have been started on the new server. The first few home directories have been migrated to the new server and their sites are back online. We’re continuing to migrate the other home directories in alphabetical order.
Update 6.30am UTC: Home directories up to the letter “j” have been copied to the new server. We’re continuing to copy the rest of the home directories.
Update 4.30pm UTC: Home directories up to the letter “r” have been copied to the new server. We’re continuing to copy the rest of the home directories.
Update 2014-05-12 00:34 UTC: The migration is now over. If you experience any issues with your sites open a ticket and we’ll look into it asap. We have setup a proxy on the old server to redirect all HTTP and HTTPS traffic to the new server. The proxy will stay for 5 days. The migration took much longer than usual due to an ongoing DDOS attack on the server.
